Today, my baby girl turned five. She woke up at 6:00am for school, and informed me that she was now a big girl, showing me how long her legs had grown, overnight, for proof.
She started her big day with a high-priced bowl of Golden Crisp, opened a gift, and then hopped onto the school bus. She felt very lucky that mom was going to the school this morning, and she happily colored next to me, on the way to SAS.
When we got to school, I dropped off her treats, and goodie bags for her friends, for later in the afternoon, and headed up to Brennan's class for a field trip to the Shanghai History Museum, in the basement of the Pearl Tower. Once returning to the school after lunch, Brennan and I watched Carleigh's school birthday party, and took pictures.
Three bus rides later, I was extremely happy to have Mr. Tao pick us up at the school. We stopped at home to pick up Bill and Ethan (he had stayed home from school with a cold), and headed out to dinner at Blue Frog, a western restaurant of Carleigh's choosing. At the restaurant, Carleigh opened presents from Grandma and Grandpa Campbell, and Aunt Kim and Uncle Mark, ate spaghetti and vanilla ice cream, and climbed around on the play structure outside. After dinner, we came home, where she opened her last two gifts, and played with Play Doh with Brennan.
She seemed very happy with the day, and was ready for a shower and bed, after all the excitement.
On Saturday, we will be having a small party for her at the Kid's Gallery, where she and her friends will be making an arts and crafts project.
