About two weeks ago, Brennan hurt his foot at school. He complained for a few days, and then said it was better. Last Thursday, Brennan came into our room before school, and said that he could not walk on that foot, and that it had been hurting since Monday. A trip to the doctor and several x-rays later, we learned that is was not broken, but sprained. The doctor asked us to put our Japan trip for this next weekend, on hold, until we determined how his foot was on Monday, and he left on crutches. Those of you who know Brennan well, can imagine how those crutches have played out.....
On Friday of last week, Bill was home in bed, with nausea and chills, and my anxiety was rising for moving our home the next day. On Saturday, Bill was dragging a little, but he was a trooper, and the move went well. We had almost everything put away by Saturday night, and we were finished by Sunday.
On Monday, Brennan's foot felt much better.....Japan's on.........and by Tuesday morning we had pictures hung on the walls.... right before the calls from the elementary school nurse began. She called to advise me that he was in her office, complaining of abdominal pain. She asked if she could give him some Tylenol, and then let him rest. An hour or so later, she called again, telling me he was doubled over in pain. This resulted in a trip to the school, followed by the doctor, again. He appeared to be in so much pain, I thought it was going to be very serious. He had to be carried out of the school, and into the doctor's office. They way things had been going, my mind was running wild, and I was anticipating having to fly to Hong Kong to get him extensive medical care. Once again, I was expecting to cancel our trip. Luckily, it was only a pulled muscle, probably from using the crutches, or NOT using them, and hopping on his good foot. Once Brennan knew his prognosis, he felt MUCH better, and most of the pain subsided. Japan is back on.
At 11:20pm Tuesday night, Ethan came bounding into our room, and plopped on the bed, like he was there for a social visit. We told him to go back to bed, and he said that would be hard, since he had yacked all over it. According to the clean-up crew, which happen to be Bill, he had thrown up more than he thought humanly possible. After several hours of this, I had written off Japan, again.
Six hours later, it would be Brennan, and several hours after that, I joined the team. Hmmmmm, we are getting through this one pretty fast, maybe Japan is on again.
As it stands now, we are planning to leave for Tokyo on Saturday. Wish us luck, and say a few prayers..... I think we may need them!
