Beautiful Days and The Shanghai Natural Wild "Insect" Kingdom

We are back to our weekend tourism trips! Today the kids and I fed goats at the Wild "Insect" Kingdom. Yes, you read that right-we fed goats.....and guinea pigs, and rabbits, and squirrels.  We saw turtles, lizards, fish, snakes,  a parrot, and the smallest primates on Earth.  Oh, yeah and giant cockroaches. At the end you could buy a bucket and net to catch a goldfish to take home. They also had a gift shop, as always, that contained nothing, or very little, that pertained to what was in the museum. Outside the door of the museum was a giant statue of a giraffe...that should have been a clue! But, we have grown used to these sorts of things, and still enjoyed the trip. My standard response to the kids, after they questioned why there were so many creatures but few insects there, as with all these sorts of situations, was "Well, we are in China, and that is just their thing." Now it occurs to me....maybe we just needed to look a little closer at the ANIMALS....the insects may have been in their "natural" habitat on the "wild" animals.

Yesterday, the kids and I went on a bike ride. We went into a park that is attached to the back of our compound and rode around the river. It was very nice and peaceful. One of those beautiful pieces of China that kind of pop up in the middle of nowhere. It has been in the high 20's here (celsius), I think that's equivalent to the 80's, sunny and blue skies, beautiful!

That is it for now.

Love to all!

Beth
