Last night, Carleigh had her first "on stage" ballet performance. She played a duckling in a performance of "The Ugly Duckling," by Primary and Pre-Primary Ballet students at the Kid's Gallery.
The show was the first annual production of its kind by Kid's Gallery, and they did a spectacular job. Students from Ballet, Tap, Modern Dance, and Musical Theatre, of several different age groups, as well as teachers and staff, participated in the three hour show.
Practice was conducted on Friday night for two and a half hours, and again on Saturday, from 11:30am until show time. The parents were not allowed to stay for practices, and children were in the staff's care until after the show finished at 10:00pm. The kids were served meals and snacks, and the staff must have been amazing, as they somehow kept all of the children from falling apart during this REALLY LONG day!
Carleigh did a great job, and Bill and I were both very proud of her for getting up in front of several hundred people without freezing. She was a beautiful duckling, as you can see from the photos, and has had a hard time parting with the memories of the evening, as the costume has never left her body for very long!
