We spent the morning listening to songs that the kids have practiced, looking at art they had created, painting, playing with bubbles, playing games, and doing science experiments.
After the activities we all shared a lunch together, brought in by some of the parents, and covering a wide variety of foods. The day was concluded with free time play on the new playground. All of the parents and children really seemed to enjoy the event.
Yesterday, was the SAS Fall Barbeque. It is the main fundraising event of the year for this school. Along with the obvious "barbeque" fare, there were also all sorts of snacks from other countries, games, blow-up bouncy gear, skateboarding, Chinese acrobats, and a little shopping.
We walked into the barbeque and "Mr. Social" (Brennan) disappeared. He reappeared for about thirty seconds at one point, looking for tickets, and then disappeared again. When he showed up again, he had a fish that he had won in a game. Oh, boy! He has wanted one for a very long time, but Dad has nixed the request every time. Brennan is our little opportunity taker. What could he do? He "won" it.
We ate and enjoyed some fun and games, took in the acrobat show, where they did things with their bodies that should not be possible, and then decided to go for another fish. Once you have one, what's the difference?! Needless to say, we did walk out with two fish, one black, one orange and white.
When we got home we put the orange and white fish on top of our very high mantle, and Carleigh and I named it "Sherbert." Brennan put the black one in his room, and shut the doors. At 8:30pm, Brennan found Gingerbread (the cat) on top of the mantle. Fishbowl tipped over, Sherbert gone....without a trace. Apparently, it went down nice and easy. Sorry, my little friend.
