Making Progress.....

Hello all! It has been a long week and both of us are exhausted! Yesterday we turned in the children's applications for Shanghai American School. We were very happy with the campus and curriculum, and are confident that the kids will do great there. It is a little bit of America right next to the East China Sea...yes, you can see it from the school. We also chose a house to negotiate for. Hopefully it goes well and that is the one we get. It has a floor to cathedral ceiling front window, large kitchen, laundry room, dining room, study, 4 bedrooms, and 4 or 5 bathrooms..I lost count. There are a few others that we are considering..even bigger three stories, but have some issues.

Today we go to see the WorldLink Medical Center and Yu Gardens. We also go back to the house to mark down everything we need to be fixed, removed, added, etc.

On Monday, we went to a very, very large mall for lunch and ran into an NFLChina.com promotion. We couldn't stay, but the NE Patriot Cheerleaders were going to be there 15 minutes later. We did get a picture of a very bright-eyed Bill in a Tom Brady cut out!

We have passed some fun "lost in translation" kind of stores in our travels..or at least funny names.  One store was called Titi Mama, another was the Beauty Farm, and The Come On Bar. There was an article in the Shanghai daily the other day about how they are having to revise the descriptions of food in menus for the upcoming olympics. No longer will you hear "spicy tofu" described as "bean curd made by pock-marked women," or "spring chicken" as "chicken without sex life!" There was one called "husband and wife's lung slice" that had to do with pork in chili sauce...you know, exactly what you thought it was!
